A French Ligue 1 football team, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are indecisive about the first much-anticipated appearance of Lionel Messi, a 6-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Speaking at a Press Conference held by PSG, Coach Mauricio Pochettino averred that he has not yet concluded on the team list ahead of Friday’s game at Brest.
He stated, “we have not yet communicated plans to the group, we will analyze and decide after the conference”.
According Coach Pochettino, PSG will assess whether Messi can be part of the team list or not.
Commenting on Messi’s capabilities, he stated that “we all know his qualities, he brings a very positive energy. You can tell there is a good feeling, and not only in the dressing room but on the pitch”.
Following Barcelona’s financial crisis, the Argentine footballer left the Spanish football league to join PSG in the French Ligue 1 last week on a free transfer.
Since winning the Copa America with Argentina, Lionel Messi is yet to play his first game.
However, he is in full training with PSG, Coach Mauricio declared.
Mbappe will stay for this season
Touching on claims Kylian Mbappe will join Real Madrid, Coach Mauricio Pochettini made it clear that France forward Mbappe is PSG’s player and he wants him to stay for this season.
“He has another year on his contract. Even if he does not renew it, he’s still a PSG player and we are very pleased with him and from what I can understand, he is pleased with us.”

PSG’s head coach Mauricio described Kylian Mbappe’s condition as very calm whilst he’s preparing ahead of Friday’s match at Brest.
Other notable signings
Aside Lionel Messi, PSG has invested in profitable contracts for players including a multiple Champions league winner Sergio Ramos, from Real Madrid. Others include Georginio Winaljidum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi. Among these transfers, PSG only paid for Hakimi Achraf at transfer price of 60 million Euros.
With the presence of Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria, Messi and Icardi, PSG can be described as a team with a sharp attack given the outstanding capabilities of these forwards.
Subsequent to coach Pochettino’s admittance that PSG is open to arrivals, it is likely there will be more business.
As it was in Barcelona, signing on Messi would be more costly in terms of wages paid. Currently, Messi will be taking 1 million Euros as weekly salary at PSG.
However, PSG is likely to gain more revenue in return. Evidently, PSG jersey sales surpassed 130,000 units within 7 minutes, after it was posted on PSG’s website.
