A 14 -year-old boy has been reported dead as a result of the current bombings that occurred in Jerusalem. The bombings happened at two busy bus stops in Jerusalem, where a vast number of citizens were heading to work. The Israeli policed also reported that, 14 more people have been wounded in this unfortunate incident.
There were two bomb attacks, and the boy who died was among 12 people who were wounded as a result of the first blast, while three other people were wounded by the second blast. The Internal Security Minister of Israel stated that this attack was one that they have not experienced in a long time.
In Israel this year, there has been a series of deadly gun and knife attacks on citizens, and this triggered waves of military raids in Palestinian cities in the West Bank. The use of explosives was by far the most significant and outstanding attack on the Israelis in years. It was reported the first explosion happened in Givat Shaul, close to the main entrance of the city at around seven o’clock in the morning, on Wednesday.
The second attack occurred thirty minutes after the first, in Ramot Junction, another entrance to the city. A video from one scene showed people running in pursuit to save their lives, with remains and rubbish scattered on the street.
According to the Israeli police, an initial investigation they conducted indicated that both blasts were caused by explosive devices that were stationed at the scenes and the officers suspected the incident to be a “combined terror attack.”
A newspaper agency in the city made reference to a police source, saying that both explosive devices contained nails and were likely to be detonated from a far distance.
Possible Connection Between The Two Attacks
The Internal Security Minister of Israel, Omer Bar-Lev, told a group of reporters that it has been a very difficult morning for the people of Israel and there is a high probability that there is a connection between the two attacks.
Omer said that, he was sure that this was not a copied act, and that all hands will be on deck to find out the truth of the matter. Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai urged the public to contact the emergency services if they saw anything peculiar. Meanwhile, the Israeli media reported that the outgoing Prime Minister of Israel, Yair Lapid, was organizing a special meeting with the security chiefs of the country.
Itamar Ben- Gvir, leader of the ultra-nationalist Otzma Yehudit party, who is set to become the internal security minister and supervisor of the police force, paid a visit to the scene of the first explosion and declared that they had to take action to defend themselves from Palestinian attacks.
“Even if it’s the West Bank, lay siege to them and go from house to house in search of guns abd restore our deterrence power”, he said. There was a tweet from the US embassy in Israel saying that it condemned the terrorist attacks on public locations and offers its sincere condolences to the victims and their loved ones.
