Manchester City have handed themselves a huge boost in the chase for the Premier League title after beating Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Cityzens soared to a 2-1 victory, earning them three crucial points to significantly close the gap on leaders Arsenal and inject fresh life into the title race with just weeks remaining in the season.
It was Ryan Cherki who opened the scoring in the 16th minute, producing a moment of brilliance. The Frenchman meandered his way through the Gunners’ defence before calmly slotting the ball past the outstretched arms of David Raya into the bottom right corner.
However, Arsenal responded almost immediately, cutting City’s lead just 34 seconds later in dramatic fashion. Kai Havertz pressed aggressively on Gianluigi Donnarumma, and the goalkeeper’s attempted clearance ricocheted off the shin of the German forward and into the net for the equaliser.
It was a scrappy but vital goal that brought the visitors right back into the contest.
Both sides pushed for control for the remainder of the first half, but neither could find a decisive breakthrough before the interval.

The intensity remained high, with chances at both ends, yet the scoreline stayed level heading into the break.
Manchester City, however, emerged stronger in the second half and restored their lead 20 minutes after the restart through Erling Braut Haaland.
The prolific striker found the back of the net to register his 23rd league goal of the season, underlining his importance once again in vital moments of the campaign.
PL Crown in Sight for City
The victory now places Manchester City firmly back into contention, putting Arsenal’s position at the summit under serious threat.
Previously nine points adrift, City have now cut the gap to just three points while holding a crucial game in hand.

That outstanding fixture comes on Wednesday against Burnley, a side battling relegation. A win for Pep Guardiola’s men would see them draw level on points with Arsenal while potentially overtaking them on goal difference, effectively swinging the momentum of the title race in their favour.
After the match, Haaland could do little to hide his excitement about the situation. “Woah! sometimes, I get a good feeling,” said the Norwegian striker.
Despite his enthusiasm, he also stressed the importance of maintaining focus during this critical stage of the campaign and focusing on games as they come. “We need to stay humble, don’t think too much. Burnley next,” Haaland added.
On the other side, Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard remained composed despite the setback. He acknowledged the pressure but insisted the race is far from over, stating that “the title hasn’t been decided yet.”
Title Race Set to Go Down to the Wire
With just five games left to conclude the season, Manchester City’s victory has set the tone for a gripping finish.
Every point now carries enormous weight, and the margin for error is virtually non-existent for both sides.
City’s remaining fixtures are games against Burnley, Everton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, a run that will test both their consistency and squad depth as they chase another crown.
Arsenal, meanwhile, must navigate their own challenging schedule against Newcastle United, Fulham, West Ham United, Burnley and Crystal Palace, knowing that any slip could prove costly.
Manchester City are aiming to secure their seventh Premier League title under Pep Guardiola since taking charge of the team ten years ago, further cementing their dominance in English football under the Spanish manager.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are bidding to end a long wait for the title, with their last triumph coming in the historic 2003/04 campaign where they went the entire season without a defeat.
With momentum now shifting and pressure mounting on both sides, the Premier League title race appears destined to go down to the wire in what promises to be a dramatic conclusion to the season.
