FBNBank reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to youth empowerment during the recent launch of the Ubuntu Equip Programme at the British Council last Friday. The event marked the initiation of an initiative designed to equip young individuals with the necessary tools, resources, and skills vital for success in today’s fast-paced world.
The Ubuntu Equip Programme stands as a flagship initiative by Soccer For Dreamers, a free educational endeavor dedicated to transforming, empowering, and shaping the next generation of African leaders. This program aims to provide students with essential skills encompassing leadership qualities, financial literacy, time management, entrepreneurship, and civic responsibility. Through this initiative, FBNBank aims to contribute significantly to nurturing the potential of young Africans and preparing them to thrive in diverse fields.
During his address at the launch event, Mr. Victor Yaw Asante, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FBNBank, emphasized the institution’s unwavering dedication to youth empowerment. He stated, “FBNBank’s commitment to the youth remains steadfast. We are eager to witness determined and well-prepared young individuals embrace the opportunities that lie ahead for them.”
“Our partnership with Soccer for Dreamers to roll out the Ubuntu Online Equip Programme is one of the ways FBNBank is supporting the youth in their preparation for the future, and this gives credence to our commitment. At FBNBank, we believe talent knows no boundaries, and our continent is overflowing with ambitious and innovative young minds who are eager to make their mark on the world.”

Mr. Asante also encouraged young individuals to grasp the chance offered by Soccer For Dreamers and engage with the Ubuntu Equip Programme. He remarked, “Let us embark together on this journey of discovery, learning, and empowerment. Let us embrace the values of unity, collaboration, and collective progress”.
The Benefits of the Online Academy
Sylvia Akwaboah, the founder of the Ubuntu Equip Programme and President of Soccer For Dreamers, highlighted the benefits of the online academy, stating, “Our online academy assists young individuals in enhancing their CVs and honing their interview skills, preparing them for the workplace and any other opportunities they encounter.”
“We thought it wise to bring complementary learning, personal development, and leadership training right into our schools. So we have this programme to serve students right from our primary schools into our tertiary institutions to help them. We have courses like critical thinking, leadership training, communication skills, time management, and financial literacy.”

The initiative spearheaded by Soccer For Dreamers represents a significant step forward in leadership training and personal development across all educational levels in Ghana, ranging from primary to tertiary institutions. Beyond the inaugural launch, the initiative included a comprehensive training workshop tailored for educators from over 20 schools.
The workshop aimed to equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively coach and mentor their students in various aspects of leadership, personal development, and essential life skills. By extending this training to educators, Soccer For Dreamers ensures a multiplier effect, enabling teachers to impart valuable lessons and guidance to a broader spectrum of students, thereby fostering a culture of empowerment and growth throughout Ghana’s educational sector. This holistic approach underlines the organization’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and change-makers, empowering them to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
