First National Bank (FNB) Ghana Limited has committed itself to assisting Small and Medium-scaled Enterprises (SMEs) formalize their operations in the Ashanti Region of Ghana by opening another branch – a second branch at Kejetia.
Following FNB’s believe in the instrumental role SMEs play in the Ghanaian economy – in either boom or recessional periods; since they are the single largest employer-group in any economy, the bank has opened a new branch to guide SMEs in Greater Kumasi to formalize their business – by obtaining bank accounts which can be used to verify the normal daily sales of business entities for loans and overdrafts.
It is the aim of the First National Bank to educate and train SMEs on how to keep proper non-cash records that will enhance their businesses in the technology-savvy age in which we find ourselves. These objectives, the bank believes will spur the growth of the SMEs.
Prior to the ceremonial tape-cutting of the new branch, to launch the branch into full operation, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FNB, Warren Adams, notified the media about the purpose of the new branch – to extend the Bank’s mission across other regions within the country besides Accra.
Successively, Akweley Laryea, Head of Retail Banking of FNB, in summary, explained to the media, the reason for the bank’s existence. FNB started with what was originally known as the Ghana Home Loan (GHL) – a mortgage service, built towards providing home-loans for Ghanaians, she said.

According to Ms. Laryea, FNB provides financial assistance to people who are interested in purchasing properties. In this light, since property ownership is one of the most important decisions people make, the bank gives the right kind of guidance and expertise when it comes to the decision of buying a home or a property, Ms. Laryea noted.
Furthermore, the retail banking head assured the good people of Kumasi and the Ashanti Region that FNB is increasing its presence, and will as well offer easy access to mortgage and other services.
Continuing the ceremony, Mr. Mark Acheampong, Head of Commercial and Business Banking at FNB, mentioned that the new branch will continue to improve the bank’s assistance to SMEs – since that’s the reason they’re opening the Adum-Kejetia branch.
Mr. Acheampong indicated that, it is their desire as a bank to financially include all SMEs – get them access to financial support across many aspects, including international trade, among others. This, he believes will help provide for them service that allows them engage with their partners onshore and offshore.
FNB across the country and globe has been identified to be doing exceptionally well.
Recently, the bank was adjudged the Strongest Banking Brand in the World in the Brand Finance Banking 500 2023 report. The Bank emerged first among the 500 top banks in the world with an impressive Brand Strength Index Score of 93 (out of 100). The bank since its inception has not ceased its amazing performance.
