Ghanaian footballer John Paintsil, in an interview, has disclosed that he is not into acting.
This follows on-set photos of the footballer, John Paintsil, and Ghanaian ‘Kumawood’ actor, Lil Win, that is going viral on social media. When these images gained attention, several people were taken by surprise as they did not expect to see the images the footballer in the upcoming series. As such some even started calling him names like ‘Agya Koo Paintsil’. However, some are anticipating to see the said series as they are anxious to see John Paintsil’s acting skills.
That notwithstanding, other people speculate that the footballer has now ventured into the movie industry.
However, John Paintsil has come out to make his stance clear. According to the former Black Stars defender, he is not going into acting full-time as it is not part of his plans. John Paintsil in the interview explained that he was only on set to help out his fellow friend, Lil Win.
“As a celebrity, if your friend calls for your help you have to go and support him. Acting is not my job, but football, which is coaching and playing. I just gave a helping hand to a friend. I can also call Lilwin to come and help me when I am organizing a project”.
John Paintsil avails himself for entertainment gigs

Further speaking on the issue, John Paintsil intimated that he is readily available to feature in any entertainment project whenever industry players need his help. However, he iterated that it doesn’t mean he has joined the entertainment industry as his main interest still remains football.
“Even if musicians want me to appear in their videos, I will. They can call on me for any help. Even if it’s acting, I will come. But I have not joined the movie industry. My friend called me to come and help him. My professional job is still playing football and coaching as I have said”.
Touching on the series with Lilwin, John Paintsil disclosed that even though he is not a professional actor, he was able to handle the role assigned to him very well. According to him, he didn’t find any difficulties with his role. He also noted that the release date for the series will be communicated by the producers of the movie.
“Acting is not my thing, I just went to support Lil Win. So, I played the role that was given to me. I didn’t struggle when I was on set. It wasn’t difficult because I know how to talk.
“It is a series which is coming out very soon called Agya Bofo and the producers will be the best people to bring out the release date”.
It is worth noting that the TV series stars top Kumawood stars and celebrities. Kalybos, Bismark The Joke, Mr. Beautiful, Brother Sammy, General Ntatia, and Dada KD are among other top stars in the TV series segment.
