Lynx Entertainment signed artiste, Kuami Eugene, has explained the idea and motive behind his controversial style of fashion at the just-ended VGMA.
Speaking in an interview, Kuami Eugene explained that his style of fashion at the VGMAs was a representation of his life, ‘Rags To Riches’, which signifies his journey in life and music career. Kuami Eugene disclosed that it is a concept he was working on for his upcoming album, ‘Rags to Riches’.
Kuami Eugene, on Saturday, May 7, 2022, showed up on the red carpet of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with his most daring outfit yet. He was seen in a suit with one side of his head braided and the other combed out. His outfit also had two sides to it. one with a luxury suit and the other with a normal suit that was tattered.
The Afrobeat/Highlife crooner stated that he carefully planned the outfit just so he could send a message to Ghanaians on that faithful day and afterward, change back to his normal look just to “avoid unnecessary backlash on social media”.
Well, unfortunately for Kuami Eugene, his outfit sparked mixed reactions on social media. He managed to grab almost everyone’s attention with his style but on a negative note as several social media users backlashed him for his choice of fashion on that night. The outfit had social media users calling on his label mate, KiDi, to lend his stylist to Kuami Eugene.
Kuami Eugene’s lookalike imitates his VGMA look
To some people, Kuami Eugene’s concept may have been a total disaster, but not for his doppelganger. The lookalike of Kuami Eugene took his imitation of the artiste to another level. The young man who went viral for his striking resemblance to the artiste was seen with the same hairstyle and outfit concept that Kuami Eugene graced the VGMA red carpets with.
One side of the lookalike’s outfit was designed with a faded yellow sponge that went beyond his waistline while the other of the outfit looked like a normal jacket.
Speaking on the back of this, Kuami Eugene stated that he feels honored and blessed when people copy his image and replicate his lifestyle on social media and in real life because, people are just expressing themselves and the love, they have for him.
According to Kuami Eugene, some people sometimes go beyond the limit trying to impersonate his lifestyle and added that there are some musicians in Ghana who people have never tried copying them, hence he feels blessed when he comes across such things on social media.
However, Kuami Eugene mentioned that it is illegal for any of his lookalikes to perform his songs for money without seeking his consent or permission, hence such incidents should be reported to him even though he will not get them arrested.
