The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to hold a comprehensive National Policy Dialogue with the attendant of the party’s flagbearer, former President John Dramani Maham in the Eastern Region as part of its plans to mobilize for support and engage citizens towards the 2024 general elections.
The policy dialogue, which is slated to take place on the 22nd and 23rd of February, 2024 is been organized by the Social Democracy LAB, a prominent policy think tank, of the opposition National democratic Congress.
The statement released by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Social Democracy LAB on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 indicated that the policy dialogue is primarily focused on shaping the National Democratic Congress’s policy priorities for the upcoming December 7 elections.
“The flagbearer of the NDC, Former President John Dramani Mahama, the leadership of party and the NDC Social Democracy LAB, an NDC Policy think tank are organizing a National Policy Dialogue to deliberate on the NDC’s policy priorities for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary election”.

According to the statement, the key area that the policy dialogue would look at is the party’s proposed 24-hour economy policy.
The statement further stressed that the initiative aims to generate and prioritize policy proposals that will not only transform the country but also rebuild it, which reflect the party’s commitment to sustainable development.
Hundreds Of Industry Experts To Grace NDC’s Policy Dialogue
Furthermore, the statement stated that a diverse group of about two hundred industry experts have been invited to participate in the dialogue with the attendees representing various sectors, including the party’s structures, the Minority Caucus of Parliament, and the Social Democracy LAB thematic groups.
These thematic groups according to the statement released by the Social Democracy LAB Public Affairs Directorate cover critical areas such as Human Development, Finance and Economy, and Governance, ensuring a well-rounded and holistic approach to policy development.
Moreover, the statement underscored that the event is strategically positioned in the lead-up to the formulation of the National Democratic Congress’s 2024 Manifesto.
The statement emphasized that the various insights and recommendations gathered during the National Policy Dialogue will play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s policy framework for the upcoming elections.
According to the statement, the overarching goal of the policy dialogue is to lay the groundwork for a strategic, efficient, and lean government for the National Democratic Congress in January 2025 when it assumes power.
The Policy Dialogue, according to the statement, is expected to feature in-depth discussions and presentations by experts from various fields, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
In addition, the statement added that the event would be concluded by an address by the National Democratic Congress’s flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, which is scheduled for Friday, 23rd February, 2023.
