The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has revealed that the conference held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in reaction to President Akufo-Addo’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) is an attempt to mislead and incite Ghanaians.
According to him, the move by the opposition party smack of an insincere motive to discredit the governing party and trivialize the predicament the country is currently experiencing.
“The NDC’s SONA is a dismal and insincere attempt to misrepresent and incite Ghanaians. When NPP gave its SONAs in opposition, the state of Ghana was truly weak and in crisis from the mismanagement of the NDC government. Ghanaians know we are in difficulties because of Covid and Ukraine war.”

Reacting to the NDC’s statement also, the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, chastised the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, calling him a propagandist who goes about peddling falsehood.
Mr. Boakye stated that Mr Nketia was going “around in circles” in his address and made mention of some scenarios without evidence.
Commenting on the allegation of the President’s blatant silence in his fight against corruption, the NPP National Organizer stated that President Akufo-Addo and his government are currently focused on reviving the economy and are not prepared to be distracted from that anytime soon.
Meanwhile, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that the opposition National Democratic Congress’ supposed ‘True state of the nation’ address was full of mischief and propaganda.
Contained in a statement, the party stated that its leadership has taken notice of a “propaganda-laced press conference” of the NDC, addressed by Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the Party’s National Chairman, on Monday, March 20, 2023. This, it explained, was “mischievously” described as an address on the so-called ‘true state of the nation’.
“True to their unrepentant character, the NDC turned the press conference into a campaign platform, peddling blatant falsehoods, unsubstantiated allegations, and unprovoked attacks at the persons of the President, the Vice President and the Government of the NPP.”

Ordinarily, the NPP highlighted that it would not have dignified Asiedu Nketia’s “empty statement and unmeritorious effusions” with a response since he is no stranger to Ghanaians when it comes to such political theatricals. However, it explained that paying regard to the enormity of the allegations and falsehoods the chairman of the NDC spewed, the NPP has decided to set the records straight by responding to same with incontrovertible facts and data in order to assist discerning Ghanaians make an informed decision.

Chairman of the NDC, Asiedu Nketia, in his address accused President Akufo-Addo of not appreciating the hardships Ghanaians are saddled with at the moment. He stated that at the moment, Ghanaian youth are faced with joblessness, high cost of food items, corruption among government officials and other problems.
Delivering the address to respond to the state of the nation address delivered by the President last week, Mr Asiedu Nketia stated that “it is important to awaken the government” as “many are in fear of where to find their next meal”. He further explained that the continuous attempt by the government not to accept responsibility for the economic mess has led the county to a depressing point, with Ghanaians having to deal with the daily consequences of the collapsed economy.
