The Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanten, has called on traders to vote for the incumbent government due to the sterling performance in reducing the rate of unemployment in the country, promising a new formula to potential recipients of the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme Business Support Programme.
Addressing a throng of traders, Mr. Kyeremanten noted that, programmes such as the programme For Planting for Food and Jobs, 1-District-1-Factory, and NABCO have reduced considerably the unemployment rate in the country.
“We realized that not everyone was into business, as some were teachers and nurses whose allowances had been scrapped. Nana Akufo-Addo promised to restore the allowances that were scrapped by the Mahama Government. The allowances for teachers and nurses which was scrapped have also been restored”.
According to the Trades Minister, the second term of President Akufo-Addo, will witness a merging of the gains chalked between 2017 and 2020, promising potential recipients of the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme Business Support Programme (CAPBuSS) that “we have now got the formula so if you give us another mandate the money will come and it will be evenly distributed for everyone to work with”.
“All that I am saying is that look at the stellar performance of President Akufo-Addo, and vote for him so that, in the next four years, he can do more for you”.
Mr. Kyeremanten further noted that, the enormous amount of work undertaken by President of Akufo-Addo, demands that the Ghanaians bolster their confidence in him, once again, and vote massively for him in the 2020 elections.
He further disclosed that the President has delivered on the majority of promises made in the run-up to the 2016 elections.
“If you have been in Government before, and you are seeking another mandate from the people, what we have to ask you is when you were coming, what were the promises you made. It is based upon this that you would be asked to give account for your stewardship.
“I was with Nana Addo during the entire 2016 campaign season. If you remember, he said that if given the mantle of leadership, he would introduce Free SHS, has the promise been delivered or not? “
Meanwhile, Akufo-Addo, has urged Ghanaians to be cautious of the promises being made by the opposition flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in the run-up to the December 2020 polls.
Addressing business owners at Kokompe, in the Ablekuma North constituency, President Akufo-Addo revealed that Mr. Mahama has a proven record of unfulfilled promises.
“I know of someone going about on a promising spree, that if he comes, he would do this and that, but the fact of the matter is, he has been in power before, and what actually did he achieve? Nothing!.
“We have experienced his stewardship before, and it didn’t meet the expectations of Ghanaians. So, he (Mahama) should stop lying to Ghanaians, for us to continue with our developmental agenda for the country!”
To the business owners, artisans, traders of Kokompe, the President recounted the promises he made to the Ghanaian people, and offered an update on the status of these pledged.
