Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has denounced Turkish Leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s comments which likened him to Adolf Hitler.
Earlier, Erdogan said there is “no difference” between what Netanyahu is doing in Gaza and what Nazi leader Adolf Hitler did in Europe.
Erdogan also criticised Western countries supporting Israel, saying that they were complicit in what he called war crimes.
“They used to speak ill of Hitler. What difference do you have from Hitler? They are going to make us miss Hitler. Is what this Netanyahu is doing any less than what Hitler did? It is not.
“He is richer than Hitler, he gets the support from the West. All sorts of support comes from the United States. And what did they do with all this support? They killed more than 20,000 Gazans.”
Recep Tayyip Erdogan
In response, Netanyahu posted on X, “Erdogan, who commits genocide against the Kurds, who holds a world record for imprisoning journalists who oppose his rule, is the last one who can preach morality to us.”
Following Prime Minister Netanyahu’s post, Israeli war cabinet Minister, Benny Gantz also condemned Erdogan’s comments.
He called the Turkish President’s comments “blatant distortions of reality and a desecration of the Holocaust’s memory.”
“Hamas was the organisation that perpetrated a despicable massacre. Removing the threat of Hamas from the citizens of Israel is an existential necessity and an unparalleled moral imperative,” Gantz wrote on X.
Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel also stated that Erdogan’s comments comparing Netanyahu to Hitler “are deeply offensive to every Jew around the world and to the memory of the millions of Jews who perished at the hands of the Nazis.”
In a statement, Herzog said, “There is no struggle more just than the war against the terrorist organisation Hamas, which brutally and barbarically murdered Jews, as well as Muslims, and those of other faiths and nationalities.”
Netanyahu Labelled As Last Person To Talk About Genocide
The Turkish government’s communications director, Fahrettin Altun, also lambasted Netanyahu as “the last person to talk about genocide” and “morality”.
Posting on X, Altun said that Netanyahu “has mastered skills to sell the world, his war crimes against civilians as self-defense.”
He asserted that even though the world fails to stop Netanyahu, history will judge him as the war criminal he is.
“The Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is the last person to talk about morality. He cannot lecture anyone about how to conduct terror operations because he has no experience in this arena!
“He has been on a mission to drive Palestinians out of their lands for the last four decades. Now he has taken it to a new level by using the Israeli army to kill civilians in their homes, hospitals and refugee camps.”
Fahrettin Altun
In addition, Altun stated that Netanyahu “cannot fool anyone by attacking our President Erdoğan to deflect attention from his war crimes,” adding, “The world has seen what has been happening in occupied Palestine.”
“Netanyahu’s desperate attempts to save his political career by killing civilians and expanding the war are doomed to fail,” Altun said on X.
He added, “Our President Erdogan has called it for what it is and he will not stop fighting for justice no matter how many lies Netanyahu tells the world.”
Moreover, Altun urged the international community, once again, to unite around Turkey’s efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to bring about lasting peace.
He said, “We have been doing our part and will continue to do so regardless of political attacks and defamation leveled against Türkiye. We will continue to speak the truth!”
