“Police were called to Ilkeston Road just after 4am where two people were found dead in the street. Officers were then called to another incident in Milton Street where a van had attempted to run over three people. They are currently being treated in hospital. A man has also been found dead in Magdala Road. Police have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody.”Nottingham Police said in a statement.
At 4.30 in the morning, the body of a man was found on Magdala Road, according to Petra Gyuricska and her husband Miklos Toldi. They came upon the man lying on his side outside the Magdala Tennis Club, as they were going to Gyuricska’s place of work.
Gyuricska remarked that, she thought the man was already dead, when they discovered him. Soon, an ambulance then arrived after two more police cars had already arrived. The officers attempted CPR, but it was already too late, Gyuricska narrated her account.
Additionally, another eyewitness reported that, at around 4 am in Nottingham, he observed a young guy and young woman being stabbed on Ilkeston Road. The unnamed man said he had heard “awful, bloodcurdling screams” and looked through his window to see a “black guy dressed all in black with a hoody and rucksack grappling with some people.”
“She was screaming, ‘Help!’ I just wish I would’ve shouted something out of the window to unnerve the assailant. I saw him stab the lad first and then the woman. The lad collapsed in the middle of the road. The girl stumbled towards a house and didn’t move. The next minute she had disappeared down the side of a house, and that’s where they found her. I’d say it all happened within five or six minutes.”The eyewitness said.
The man claimed that, after calling the police, who arrived on the scene in about five minutes, paramedics spent over 40 minutes attempting to revive the two.
Nottinghamshire’s chief constable, Kate Meynell, said; “This is a horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people. We believe these three incidents are all linked and we have a man in custody.”
However, Ilkeston Road, Milton Street, Magdala Road, Maples Street, and Woodborough Road from the intersection of Magdala Road into the town, as well as the Maid Marian Way junction of Parliament Street, still remained closed, according the Police.
