Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei, has urged Ghanaians not to consider voting for former President John Dramani Mahama who is the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, electing Mahama would lead the country towards disaster.

In a social media post, he emphasized that Ghana remains in a better position compared to many other African countries and has potential for growth and improvement.

“I know there are many opinions about the current state of Ghana, and it’s easy to feel disheartened. But let’s take a moment to appreciate that, despite our challenges, Ghana is still in a better position compared to many other African countries.

“We have the potential for growth and improvement, especially with Dr. Bawumia leading us forward. Choosing to bring back a former president would not only be a setback but could potentially lead us down a path of disaster.”

He further noted that Ghanaians need to think critically about their choices and remember that the alternatives may only deepen the challenges they face.

“Let’s commit to a brighter future for Ghana with leadership that inspires progress. Stay hopeful and keep pushing for a better tomorrow,” he said.

Moreover, John Mahama has been charged by the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, with being accountable for the demise of the Ghana film industry.

Chairman Wontumi announced that the movie business collapsed because of the power crisis that John Mahama’s administration faced.

“The collapse of the Ghana movie industry was because of John Mahama. The ‘dumsor’ he brought caused it,” Chairman Wontumi said.

He went on to criticize the former administration for being the root of the nation’s issues and commended the NPP administration for its “good work.”

Actor Endorses Dr. Bawumia

The Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei publicly endorsed the presidential candidature of vice president and flagbearer candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to him, the vice president represents progress, growth, and a force to drive national development.

The actor in a post on X, formerly, Twitter explained that the time is due for the Ghanaian youth to take charge of the future of Ghana and vote for a candidate that will ensure progress and national development.

“It’s time for progression, and it’s possible! Join the movement now and be a part of the youth taking charge of our country’s future. Together, we can make a difference! The Revolution will not be televised! Victory 2024 is upon us! Dr. Bawumia stands for progress,” parts of his tweet on X read.

To him, such a decision equals looking back at Gaza or saying yes to Lo Debar; a word in Hebrew representing No pasture, no growth, or no hope. His tweet read, “We must not look back to Gaza, let’s say no to Lo Debar. It’s time for progression.”

In the upcoming December 7, 2024, general elections, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be contesting the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama, Alan Kyerematen of the Movement for Change, and many others for the highest office in Ghana.

Prince David Osei’s post was met with a barrage of criticisms as the actor has publicly declared his support for the NPP in the past.

“Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of Ghanaians appreciate the worst state of Ghana now under your darling Bawumia. Rooting for a candidate who questions his own logic is honestly the lowest anyone could possibly go but you clearly don’t mind.”

One person’s tweet

“Ghanaians care more about having a decent life than being better than other African countries. We are not in any competition. The NPP has got the plot twisted and they must go into opposition to go figure it out.”

Another X user

“Because of your selfish interest, we should go for someone who supervised this mess we are in today, today dollar rate is not 4 cedis anymore, petrol, diesel, and other commodities but you are here saying what. Interesting.”
