Lawyer Bradford Cohen, who is the lawyer of American rapper, Kodak Black, has revealed that the rapper is currently “in a stable condition” after being shot in the leg.
The rapper was among four people who were shot in the early hours of Saturday, February 12, 2022, at West Hollywood.
Lawyer Bradford Cohen posted a statement on Instagram saying, “there was an unprovoked attack on an individual Kodak was with”. He further noted that “several shots were fired at them but Kodak will make a full recovery”.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) disclosed that an altercation took place around 2:45 am.
“Preliminary investigation revealed there was a physical altercation between several individuals at the location”.
LAPD
The LAPD stated that gunshots were “fired by an unknown suspect” who fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Two victims were taken to local hospitals and two others made their own way to hospitals, police reports disclosed. The LAPD has asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
Reports from the US said this incident happened near an after-party for singer Justin Bieber.
Meanwhile, Kodak Black has posted on social media, not about the shooting but tweeting about the Super Bowl.
It can be recalled that Kodak Black was sentenced to almost four years in jail in 2019 for making a false statement to buy a firearm. Fortunately for him, his sentence was commuted by President Trump in 2021.
More Details About the Shooting
The shooting took place after Justin Bieber hosted a star-studded afterparty at the swanky eatery following his earlier pre-Super Bowl performance at the Pacific Design Center.
Rappers, Kodak Black, Lil Baby, and Gunna were leaving the party around 2:45 a.m. when a fight broke out with the rappers’ friends who were in a red Ferrari Sports Car when Kodak Black took a swing at someone, TMZ first reported.
A source told local media that “the fight was believed to have started with someone in Kodak Black’s entourage. After others jumped in, shots were fired… and then all hell broke loose”.
People began running for their lives as shots broke out, according to eyewitnesses. Multiple shots were fired hitting three other men, aged between 19 and 60.
The 19-year-old and 60-year-old were transported to the hospital from the scene. However, Kodak Black, who was also injured left the scene but was later taken to the hospital.
Two of the victim’s names have not been released but all four are reported to be in stable condition.
One man, who is believed to be a friend of Black, was reportedly shot in the buttocks, another man, an autograph collector named Mark Schaefer believed to be the 60-year-old victim, is said to have been shot in the foot and the third was seen shot in the shoulder.
The shooters are still on the run and no arrests have been made, LAPD disclosed. No suspects have been named as the investigations continue.
