The husband of gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, has been arrested by the FCT police command for allegedly being the cause of his wife’s death, according to reports.
Per sources, Mr. Nwachukwu was arrested by men of the Lugbe police division after the brother of the late singer reported a case of suspected homicide to the police. This comes amidst reports he has over the years subjected late Osinachi to severe domestic abuse.
Confirming his arrest to local media, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, DP Joseph Adeh posited that the suspect is now in police custody. He explained that Mr. Nwachukwu was arrested on grounds of suspected culpable homicide and that investigation into the matter is ongoing.
In the wake of the news of the death of Osinachi, unconfirmed reports claimed that late Osinachi was placed on life support after suffering cancer of the throat and sadly died on Friday, April 8, 2022, at age 42. However, the elder sister of the late gospel music artiste, confirmed that her sister died as a result of a cluster of blood in the chest from the kicking she allegedly received from her husband, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu.

Osinachi didn’t want to divorce ‘abusive’ husband
Favour Made, who is the elder sister to the late Osinachi, also alleged that her sister was treated badly by her husband before her untimely death. She also disclosed that even with all the ill treatment Osinachi received from her husband, she insisted on staying in the marriage instead of getting a divorce.
“My sister did not die of cancer. The husband, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu hit her with his leg on the chest. All this while he had been beating her but my sister hid all that she was passing through from us. We told her to come out of the marriage, we told her that they are not divorcing, that it was just separation. But she felt that God is against divorce. We told her that separation is not a sin but just for her to stay alive and take care of her children. She will always tell us to relax that the man will change”.
Favour Made
Narrating the events leading to the death of Osinachi Nwachukwu, Favour Made said: “When the man kicked her on the chest, she fell down and he took her to the hospital but he did not even tell us. It was her friend who lives in Ebonyi state that called her twin sister, because Osinachi has a twin sister, to ask, ‘did your sister tell you that Peter hit her on the chest?’, the sister then told her no. It was the hitting on the chest that killed her. My brother asked the doctor what killed her and the doctor said that there were clusters of blood on her chest. Unfortunately, they did not tell the doctor that she was kicked in the chest. The doctor could have known what to do if he had an idea of what happened”.
The singer shot into the limelight with the hit, ‘Ekwueme’, which she sang alongside Prospa Ochimana. She was a lead singer at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre. She featured in several popular gospel songs like ‘Nara Ekele’ with Pastor Paul Enenche (Dunamis, Abuja), and ‘You no dey use me play’ with Emma. Her last song, Ikem (God of Power) was released in November 2021. She was the twin sister of Amarachi Grace Eze, who is also a famous gospel singer.
